Artist of The Week is Karis Taylor
Artist of the Week is Karis Taylor.
Karis Taylor is quickly making her presence felt in the indie-pop world, capturing attention with her honest lyricism and distinctive vocal style. Her new single, ‘Dying Day‘, is a standout example of this artist’s unique approach, intertwining emotionally charged lyrics with an upbeat and bright sonic landscape.
‘Dying Day‘ was written in early 2023 alongside producer Conor Albert, known for his work with artists like Eloise, SG Lewis, and Tom Misch. Despite its lively sound, the song digs deep into the feelings of isolation and the reluctance to open up emotionally.
Reflecting on the song, Karis shared, ‘I wrote ‘Dying Day‘ at a time where I felt I couldn’t confide in anyone. Not because of who they are, but because I’m a huge over-thinker and hate the thought of putting a burden on someone. The song is basically me letting my emotions out, whilst also being optimistic that I’ll find a way to be truly open instead of bottling up.’

With her debut single ‘Learning to Hate Me’ already receiving attention from BBC Introducing and various playlists, Karis is clearly an artist to watch as she continues to carve out her place in the industry.
