Artist of the week is Zoe Konez
Our Artist Of The Week is Zoe Konez!
Not content with merely taking inspiration lyrically from the different places she spends time, she will often record the sound around her and incorporate these soundscapes into her songs. This makes Zoe a really interesting and unique artist. On her last project she recorded the swelling sound of sea waves (recorded knee-deep in the incoming tide on a tranquil, sunny afternoon on the historic coastline of Jersey) and took them back into her urban home studio environment, creating something really beautiful. While she is happy to burrow away tinkering in her studio for days at a time, Zoe relishes escaping the city and spending time in nature.
Listen to her latest offering, ‘Easy To Learn‘ here
A very peaceful listen, the tight layers of lush, breathy vocals drift along over high-fretted guitar fingerpicking, evoking the organic, cosy indie-folk atmospheres of Novo Amor and Hollow Coves. The song is assuredly hopeful – Zoe experiences the joy of seeing a young person grow up in a supportive environment, knowing that whatever happens, they have all they need to be held and helped to bounce back when needed in life. The new arrival in her family has inspired visions of an idyllic future where everyone feels loved and treated equally.
