Artist of The Week is Daffodils
Our Artist of The Week is Daffodils.
London-based band Daffodils is back with ‘Filthy Animals’’, its first release since its debut EP ‘Domine’. This track brings a gritty, defiant energy to the holiday season, capturing the chaos and camaraderie of Christmas spent in isolation. Written during lockdown, the song paints a picture of a fractured world, but one where the ‘Filthy Animals’’ find strength in each other amidst the wreckage.
Lyrically, ‘Filthy Animals’’ is a blend of dark humour and raw emotion. The band reflects on a Christmas that was far from perfect – one spent scavenging for a tree, eating herring on bread, and drinking down whatever festive spirit they could find.

Musically, the track pulses with folk-punk energy, driven by gentle guitars, subtle percussion, and anthemic violin swells. The diverse instrumentation – including mandolin, lap steel guitar, and backing vocals from a full ensemble – creates a layered, live feel that adds to the song’s raw power.
At its core, ‘Filthy Animals’’ is about community – finding solace in the people who matter most, even when everything else feels like it’s falling apart. With its punk-inspired spirit and heart, this track is the perfect anthem for anyone who’s ever danced through life’s chaos with defiance.
