Artist of The Week – Gris-de-Lin

‘Artist of The Week’ is Gris-de-Lin with her track ‘Birthday’.

‘Birthday’ takes many twists and turns, constantly surprising the listener in terms of textures, instrumentation and production. What starts off as a seemingly innocent ‘singer-songwriter’ style track ends up crossing many different moods; with tension created by ‘trashy’ sounding drums and bass, juxtaposed with a superbly sweet vocal.  The effect at times is almost haunting.  Strings weave melodically around the vocal towards the end creating even more variation.  Take a listen:
