Artist Of The Week is Cyrano
Our Artist of The Week is Cyrano
Cyrano is an Edinburgh-based producer and incredible multi-instrumentalist, specialising in what he calls ‘music for the late-night overthinkers’. 2021 saw the release of his debut EP called ‘Consolations’, produced by Luke Smith and Kit Monteith from the band, Foals. ‘Consolations’ is a concept EP, inspired by Alain de Botton’s book, ‘The Consolations of Philosophy’. Each track has a different theme, covering the struggles of modern life and soundtracking the arc of a night.
Listen to his latest track, ‘Afterburns’, here:
Afterburns is a love letter for all the broken hearts. In the digital age, there aren’t many artists brave enough to release a 6-minute single, let alone two versions at the same time. For Cyrano, the process of writing his meditative and dreamy new single became a kind of therapy, as he pens the thoughts not shared and the words not said in his break-up. He poetically says, “To me, the Afterburns of a relationship is when the coals are on the fire and you’re wondering whether to give it another stoke for a flame. If you spend too much time thinking, it’ll just fade away.”
Cyrano topped the Hype Machine charts on three occasions and has had love from BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio.
