Arthur In Colour

Arthur In Colour are a London-based lyrical indie band formed and led by Arthur Sharpe, the RTS Award-winning composer of the BAFTA-nominated Channel 4 series ‘Flowers’.

Comprising of Arthur himself, Lewis Bremner, Helen Cripps, Lizzie Owens and Will Sharpe, the five of them first got together in 2012 to play a run of shows in London – including a weekend headline slot at Hootananny, Brixton – before going on to record their debut EP ‘Malatrophy EP’, released in November 2012. The EP received an 8/10 from Neon Filler and a 4/5 from Music Muso.

The five-piece later came together again to record their debut album ‘Nocturnalium’. Spending a week in the studio, their time there saw them experiment with broken guitar pedals, slit drums, and a variety of organs and synths, before moving the project into Arthur’s bedroom to finish off the recording process. The bedroom sessions saw further experimentation, including playing guitars with spoons, distorting glockenspiels, and vocals sung at 3am in a hushed style to avoid waking and angering the flatmates. The end result was ‘Nocturnalium’, a lyrical indie pop/rock record with vocals shared between a male and female lead. The album is out on 05/06/17 and will be released as a limited edition CD alongside all the usual online download stores such as iTunes and Amazon mp3.

In the run-up to the album release, the band have also unveiled a video for the track ‘Mariella’, directed by the twice BAFTA-nominated Arthur In Colour keys player Will Sharpe. The video sees the band transformed into miniature homemade puppets, playing miniature homemade instruments, and can be found here:
