AOTW – Malorry Torr – Time Out

Malorry Torr is this week’s ‘Artist of The Week’, with her track ‘The Joker & The Thief’ (chosen by Time Out London).

With snappy beats, dark synthesised sounds and smooth vocals – Malorry
Torr makes her presence known for 2016. Torr has been consistently
dropping tracks and this summer could truly be her time to shine on the UK
music scene. Her hooks are tight, punchy and most importantly catchy. ‘The
Joker and a thief’ combines a heavy drum beat, supported by Malory Torr’s
loveable vocals for a joyous tune sure enough to be a summer hit.

AOTW – Victoria by Outside Organisation

This week’s Artist Of The Week is London based band Victoria chosen by Outside Organisation.  Their track ‘Distant Nights’ caught our attention.

Distant Nights showcases the best elements of pop; with full choruses, punchy production, and interesting loops churning away throughout the track, popping to the surface in the more stripped back sections.  Long melodic vocal lines full of character and vocal nuances leave you wanting more.  If you like Bruno Mars, Coldplay and even Phoenix this might well be up your street.  Take a listen:

Artist of The Week – Labradoor by The Great Escape Festival

This week’s Artist of The Week is London based band Labradoor as chosen by The Great Escape Festival.  The yearly festival in Brighton showcases the best new bands the worlds has to offer.  To find out more click here

‘Silence’ is a song simply made for lying back and listening to in the warmth of the sun. The dappled guitar and the dreamy vocals are reminiscent of careless teenage years. There are tones of Orange Juice in the guitar, mixed with continuous summer feeling of The Drums, and luckily summer is just around the corner, as you won’t be able to get this out of your head.

Vocalist Emil Brynge says “it’s about how saying nothing at all can sometimes work better, and says more words than I could’ve done”, and that in itself says all it needs to.

Artist of The Week – Cut Ribbons

This week’s Artist of The Week is Welsh band Cut Ribbons.

Their track ‘We want to watch something we loved burn’ was selected by BBC Radio 1’s Alice Levine for our ‘Best of Richer Unsigned’ vinyl release celebrating Record Store Day.

‘We want to watch something we loved burn’ features strong vocal melodies over a guitar riff-filled track bursting with energy. There is nice interplay between the two vocalists whose lines weave in and out of each other throughout the song.  Huge gated reverb drums add to a very 80s sound, complete with a lead synth hook that churns away, leaving you humming it long after the track has finished!  If you like The 1975, Prince and perhaps even early Ra Ra Riot this might be right up your street.  Take a listen:

Artist of The Week – George Cosby

Our ‘Artist of The Week’ this week is George Cosby.

Following the release of his debut EP at the end of 2015, George Cosby has made waves with his unique vocal and dark pop tracks. The buzz around his release culminated in a sold-out show at London’s The Pickle Factory and a nomination for The Blog Sound Of 2016 Poll; the blogosphere’s version of the BBC’s end of year poll. With new music set to be announced soon, 2016 is set to be a very exciting year for the singer.  Take a listen:
