Artist Of The Week: Alice Mary

Alice Mary is a self-described “classically trained, techno-loving Jimi Hendrix fan who has somehow become a pop musician” and honestly, we couldn’t have put it better! Her music is a duality; on one hand, her productions are delicate and dreamy electronic exercises, with expertly twisted sampling while her voice swims in pools akin to indie singer/songwriters like Conor Oberst and Fiest. “Failing In Love” off of Alice’s debut EP I Am Here encapsulates this duplexity perfectly, so check it out below:

Artist Of The Week: The Woods

We’ve picked The Woods as our Artist Of The Week! The Woods is the musical brainchild of Scottish producer/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Johnny McFazden. With a soulful hypnotic voice that echoes with inflections of Jeff Buckley, backed by moody R&B-tinged electronic production reminiscent of some of James Blake’s early work, McFazden makes things his own by adding gentle folk-ish elements. A deft aural juggler, The Woods makes poignant music that gently commands your attention, and then rewards you for your time. While we’ve selected “Armchair Expert” to showcase The Woods’ brilliant sound, by the time you’re reading this, his new EP Night Silk Threads will be out, which we highly recommend checking out too!

This group of four “door-to-door heartbreak salesmen” are based in Brighton, crafting poppy, funky, laid-back indie rock, equally perfect for lounging in the sunshine with mates or hiding from spring showers with a good book. Artist Of The Week: Yvonne Hercules

A singer-songwriter based in London, Yvonne Hercules is our Artist Of The Week! Coming across footage of Lightnin’ Hopkins performing truly inspired her to want to hone her songwriting and playing ability. Her music is a culmination of folk, blues, rock & soul with a discerning edge underpinned by honest, thought-provoking lyrics, with inflections of her parents’ record collection that featured traditional Nigerian music, reggae, Motown & soul that played a part in her musical upbringing.

We think her song “Roving” perfectly encapsulates her unique multi-genre sound, so check it out below:

Artist Of The Week: Izzy Thomas

Izzy Thomas is this week’s Artist Of The Week! Izzy sports a sound that takes tried n’ true alt-rock sonics, that then get layered over heavy hip-hop inflected electronic beats that hit like a freight train, making for a refreshing take that keeps things exciting. On top of that, her powerhouse, blues-influenced vocals add heft that will get heads nodding in no time! We love her latest single “Trouble (Pull That Trigger)”, as it perfectly highlights both her incredible voice and her unique production choices:
