Our Artist of the Week is The Near Jazz Experience.
The Near Jazz Experience (The NJE) return with ‘Astro Disco’, the first single from their upcoming album Tritone which was released on the 20th June – a genre-hopping blend of funk, jazz, world, and rock that grooves hard and pushes boundaries.
Formed by Mark Bedford (Madness), Simon Charterton (The Higsons), and Terry Edwards (multi-instrumentalist for everyone from PJ Harvey to Nick Cave), the NJE takes the spirit of Can, Roland Kirk, Motown, and Third Stream, and reworks it into something wholly their own.

Tritone features guest spots from Mike Garson and Matt Johnson, adding melodic flair to their driving sound. Expect nods to Kraftwerk, Magazine, Miles Davis, John Zorn, Fela Kuti, and Ezra Collective.
