Our Artist of the Week is Straylings.
Psych-folk duo Straylings are back with a new single, ‘American Kid’, out now and offering a preview of their upcoming third album, Call Back Your Name. The track blends 60s and 70s rock, psychedelia, and folk, driven by punchy bass and intertwining tremolo-drenched guitars.
Vocalist and songwriter Dana Zeera’s commanding voice leads the way, adding a sense of spontaneity and charm reminiscent of Stevie Nicks on a road trip.

Reflecting on the process, Dana and guitarist/producer Oliver Drake shared how stepping back to create the record on their own allowed the album to evolve naturally. Thematically, Call Back Your Name delves into isolation, loss, and reorientation, while drawing on Dana’s Bahraini roots and Oliver’s folk-psychedelic influences.
Following acclaim for their previous albums, and support from BBC 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne and Steve Lamacq, Straylings’ new single marks a confident return. Call Back Your Name is set for release later this year, bringing intricate, reverb-soaked sounds and storytelling into a new era for the duo.
