Our Artist the Week is Hiatus.
British-Iranian producer Hiatus released his fifth album, ‘Is’, on November 8th, 2024. The album is his most joyful to date, shaped by the healing power of live performances after a ten-year break. Unlike the sombre ‘Distancer’, ‘Is’ is a celebration of the present moment, blending euphoric soundscapes with his signature fusion of western classical, electronic, and microtonal Persian music.
A standout track, ‘Delta,’ released as a single alongside the album, evolves from a dramatic piano loop, and features Bo Bruce’s haunting vocals. Inspired by Hiatus’ performance at the Anjunadeep Explorations festival, it’s a mesmerising mix of swirling beats and ethereal tones. The track is accompanied by a psychedelic hand-drawn video by Isabella Barszcz.
