Richer Unsigned Artist of The Week – Haula

Artist of the week this week is Haula.  Her song ‘Darkest Hour’ was chosen back in September 2015 by Radio 1’s Alice Levine for the Best of Richer Unsigned playlist.  Her new song ‘Freedom’ comes as a fantastic follow-up.

From the start of ‘Freedom’ there is an atmosphere of mystery created by warm pads and tribal, filtered half-time drums.  Her strong vocals play with the drum groove creating a call and response effect that builds throughout the track.  It means that each sound, instrument and all subtle effects have a presence in the mix without being overbearing.  Creative lyrics paint a powerful picture that wouldn’t be out of place in a film or documentary.  Take a listen:
