Artist Of The Week: Dakota Avenue

Our Artist Of The Week is Dakota Avenue!

Dakota Avenue is an explosive alt-rock trio based in Manchester, UK. They have clocked radio play from Amazing Radio and XS Manchester, as well as performing live sessions on BBC Introducing. Dakota Avenue have played a variety of stages to thousands, including Belladrum Festival, Blackthorn Festival, Bridgewater Hall and Etihad Stadium’s City Square, supporting Clean Cut Kid and hosting four sold-out shows.

E-zines Clout, RGM and The Mancunion championed their music, recorded with producer Andy Gannon (Clean Bandit, Fickle Friends). During lockdown, they pressed merchandise, raising hundreds of pounds for the Music Venue Trust. 2022 sees Dakota Avenue release new music and perform at Kendal Calling and A Stone’s Throw, with other exciting tastemaker festivals confirmed.

Listen to their latest single, ‘Slap Me Silly’ here:

‘Slap Me Silly’ is a hypothetical plea for a saint-like figure to appear and click the reset button. “I’m calling for ‘The Man’, I’m brainwashed to the max, the same as all my friends, they feed us all their toxins, taxes, lies.” Dreamy, melodic guitar and epic vocals meet a powerful rhythm section to produce something that is both catchy and unique.

If you’re already an avid fan of Sam Fender’s thought-provoking relatability, U2’s infectious melodies, The Police’s insane groove and Foo Fighters’ stadium-rock power, then the chances of you falling in love with this trio are exceptionally high.

For more information on Dakota Avenue, head over their socials or catch them on June 3rd – the band is hosting a single launch party at 33 Oldham Street in Manchester.Support the artist:
